Coolest "Freebie" Ever!
115 year old one room school house
This one room school house in Missouri was listed for free on Craigslist recently.
All they asked was for someone to dismantle it and haul it away.
Even though it was not something I could possibly salvage, I couldn't help pondering the possibilities! I mean - all that lovely worn wood, shabby windows, rusty metal roofing and the thought of other hidden treasures that might lie beyond view inside. Just reading the listing was enough to make me envious of the person who could rescue this historic find.
In the late 1800's - early 1900's teachers throughout Missouri rode circuits from school to school, generally staying with various families trading their services for room and board just as preachers often did in those days.
In fact my own Grandfather had been a circuit teacher. It made me curious as to whether he might actually have taught in this very school. I am now on a grand mission to find out. Will let you know in a later post.
